Woolton Road / South Liverpool Parkway

Area Committee Meeting 8 Dec 05: The Traffic Regulation Order sought for the area around the new Liverpool South Parkway was rejected until City Council traffic planners, Merseytravel & the local residents can reach an amicable decision on what should be done in the area. The decision was taken due to the Traffic Regulation Order benefiting Liverpool South Parkway & Merseytravel and not taking the residents into consideration.

South Liverpool Parkway/Woolton Road: There is a meeting regarding the Traffic Management changes that are taking place in the Woolton Road area of Garston (near to the British Legion). This meeting was earmarked to take place in Speke ( why when it is a Garston issue !!!!!). It will now take place in Garston Urban Village Hall, Banks Road, Garston on Thursday December 8th 2005 at 5.30pm. Please go along & support the residents of the area.

Reply regarding the meeting originally ear marked for Speke:Re the Woolton Road traffic management issue.  The news story here queries why a meeting was originally going to be in speke to discuss a Garston issue.  This isn't true.  This meeting is the regular neighbourhood committee which covers speke, Garston, cressington and mossley hill.  A decision was taken to move meetings around that huge area and 8th dec was originally earmarked for Speke.  One agenda item, for example, is the Morrisons superstore at Speke and a presenter has already been arranged.  I imagine there have been venue problems this time, which will simply mean booking the Speke meeting for early next year, although not the issues which still have to be aired. The Woolton road item would be one of several affecting any part of the whole neighbourhood committee patch. Any member of the public is welcome to these meetings.  There is always a public question time (questions need to be written down on a form which you can get at the meeting or in advance from dave.phillips@liverpool.gov.uk) Personally I like meeting at Banks road as it is very handy for me.. but we need to be aware that this is a huge area and that everyone needs to have a chance to ask their questions.  For the record this municipal year the committee will meet three times before Dec 31st.. each time in Garston!!!! I get complaints from my colleagues in Mossley hill!
The Garston Neighbourhood Committee Chair is Cllr Ron Gould.  I am the deputy chair.   Paula K.
