Area Committee meeting 8 Dec 05: It was made clear that a proposal has been made to close Garston C of E School. This was put down to falling pupil numbers, it is feared that the demolition of houses and slow rebuild have not been taken into account. Some local residents fear that the school land is being sold of by the Church of England to aid the Liverpool South Parkway. The Area Committee stated that it will help campaign to keep the school open and the local community should do all it can to help keep the school open, we cannot allow the school to be closed. Interchill Internet Cafe: This local youth project is under threat of closure due to lack of funds. If this youth project is closed there is a very strong chance that the children who use it will not have alternative facilities to use and will easily integrate into local gangs. The Area Committee will be addressing the youth project situation soon. Unfortunately this could be too late for Interchill. The children who use Interchill were involved in the organising of the recent 65/05 exhibition that showed Garston in the 60's and in the present day through multimedia presentations and Garston memorabilia. Garston C of E School: Is to be closed, this school that has been threatened with closure before is now facing closure. If anyone has any other points on this please feel free to email them in.
