Garston C of E School

The meeting at Garston C of E school on the 8th Feb 06 regarding the future of the school went well. There was attendance from around 300 local people who put forward their support for the school to remain open.

Main points from the meeting were:

The school has 81 pupils and that is due to rise in September

The school is financially viable for the next 3 years

It has an Offsted report with a 'notice to improve'

The closure proposal study did not extend further than 4 years in the future when there will still be significant regeneration in the area with the possibility of more houses being built.

The facts and figures in the closure proposal documents were "open to interpretation", (they didn't add up.

There is high suspicion among school supporters that the school is to be closed so the ground can be used for the Liverpool South Parkway that is being built on the old South Liverpool Football ground.
