hello garston
i was born there in 1937 and lived in chesterton st with my
parents and nanny edwards although my family name was cummings who should
be well known at the club as the cummings clan spent a lot of time there
and were even on the club comittee namely mick joe barney and john all
were my uncles all now sadly deceased mick actually died after a fall in
the club
the last brother was my dad peter who sailed out of garston on the
banana
boats in the thirties and forties both my aunts are still in garston
fondly remembered by me as our ag and tess tess lives in durham st and
agnes in
whitehedge rd the last time i was over was for the funeral of ags son i
have many happier memories of my birthplace especially down the shore past
the bottleworks to watch them breaking the ships up regular trips to
harwoods for sweets we emigrated to canada in 1980 and we have done well
here but obviously theres no place like home and i am looking forward to
visiting again in spring heres wishing everyone who knows us all the best
for the festive season and a happy new year god bless you one and all
Peter Cummings
