Hello from the rest of the World

. Roy & Norma Jones, originally from Garston they emigrated to Adelaide, Australia and now live in Western Australia. During the time the Expats pages were getting set up Roy & Norma were back in Garston and visited the club for the first time in 16 years. It was nice to see them back again. |
From one club to another Hi!, just read your letter about your club in our local rag. Being the President of The Merseysiders and Friends Australian Social Club Inc. I thought that I would drop you a line. My Dad who passed away in 1994 was one of the original founders of our club. I was asked to take over and am still President. We are just starting our sixteenth year, are a small club of 66 people but we are a great crowd. I am originally from Princes Park and have been here in Adelaide, South Australia for 26 years now. I am a member of Expats and Friends Reunited and often read about people from Liverpool. What a wonderful place, there's no place like it. Good luck for the future and I shall look out for the garston-woodcutters site when I'm browsing the net. Best Wishes, Lin Passey' |

Hi I've been trying to trace
relatives of my family who used to live in Garston/Grassendale in the
1940's. First, the Kirby Family, who lived at 7, Shirley Rd. Fathers name
was William, approx age late twenties, mother s name not known. They had
two youngish children. They were known to live at that address in June
1943,
Second, Louise Marie Albertine Anne Radcliffe,
aged about 30 in 1943, last |

Looking for Family I am writing on behalf of my brother in law Arthur Clake born in Liverpool, all his family were born in West Derby. Arthur Clake's (brother in law) son on holiday in Queensland was talking to a man who said he was in the RAF with a Robert Dale Clake, his mother was called Kitty "from the Dingle" this man got birthday cards and Christmas cards off him. He said they were stationed in Germany at one time. Arthur's son did not think anything of this till he mentioned it to his father when he got home as Clake is not a common name people always think of Clark. Arthur's parents were separated about 1931, and his father Cecil Coulstan Clake went out with a woman called Kitty (maiden name not known) and Arthur would dearly love to find out whether he has a half brother, because it was a bit of a coincidence hearing this information. Arthur was actually born in Rock Ferry, Fieldside Road. in 1929, then his parents moved to Kirkdale. His father was in digs in Wallasey, and lived in Everton Valley, died in 1954 aged 54. I have tried looking up births, and Arthur has rung up a few Clake's over in the UK but to no avail, if his father and Kitty weren't married she might have registered him in her name and then perhaps taken the name of Clake, possible perhaps? He may have been born in the mid 1930 ties early forties? If you could put a message on the boards etc, we would really appreciate it and thank you very much. If you can help Ann then you can contact us here at expats@garston-woodcutters.co.uk and we will pass on your details |
